Meghan Crook Memorial Scholarship Hike Fundraiser
Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate Meghan at the 3rd Annual Meghan Crook Memorial Hike on Sunday, October 15th at Bruce’s Mill Conservation Area. In total we had over 70 participants and have raised over $12,000 to date with in excess of $80,000 raised over the past 3 years. Thank you for helping to keep Meghan’s memory alive and for assisting our agency in providing (6) $5,000 scholarships to BBBSPY youth over the past 3 years.
A special thank you to Megan Stoddard and team from YRP who helped to organize this great event, to Meghan’s Big Sister Donna Coulson and friends Rhonda Evans and Jacqueline Simmonds who help with the hike planning year after year and to Inspector Chirag Bhatt for bringing welcoming remarks and sharing his remembrance of Meghan!

About Meghan . . .
Meghan was a shining light in the lives of so many and a valued part of our Big Brothers Big Sisters family. Meghan was a Little Sister and then became a Big Sister for 11 years and was always a strong advocate of mentoring. Through hard work and perseverance, Meghan achieved her dream of becoming a York Regional Police officer and quickly worked her way up to Detective Constable. Tragically, Meghan passed away on February 2, 2021 at the age of 31 as the result of snowmobile accident. Meghan believed in opportunities and that everyone should have a chance to achieve their goals. In 2021 the Meghan Crook Memorial Scholarship fund was created in honour of Meghan and to keep her memory alive. Each year 2 youth from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Peel York will be awarded a $5,000 scholarship to assist them in their post-secondary journey.
All funds raised from the Annual Meghan Crook Memorial Hike goes directly towards providing scholarships to give youth the opportunity to reach their full potential.
