Your Role As a Mentor

As a Mentor, your role goes beyond activities, it’s about building a meaningful, supportive relationship that helps a young person grow. The Developmental Relationship Approach: Our programs are grounded in the Developmental Relationships Framework, which shows that young people thrive when they experience strong, positive relationships with caring adults. As a Mentor, you will: Express Care Show that you are reliable, present, and genuinely interested in your Mentee. Challenge Growth Encourage your Mentee to try new things, build confidence, and develop skills. Provide Support Help your Mentee navigate challenges and celebrate their successes. Share Power Listen to your Mentee’s voice, include them in decisions, and respect their perspectives. Expand Possibilities Expose your Mentee to new experiences, ideas, and opportunities.
