On Tuesday, October 24 Big Brothers Big Sisters of Peel (BBBSP) went purple in support of Peel CAS to celebrate Child Abuse Prevention Month.
Every October, OACAS and Children’s Aid Societies raise awareness about how to identify and help prevent child abuse. This year the supporters spread awareness with a provincial dress up purple day to symbolize how it takes a community to prevent child abuse.
Many staff in the BBBSP office were wearing purple that day and the shirts generated a lot talk around the subject of child abuse prevention. By using or searching the hashtag #IBREAKTHESILENCE on social media, news, photos and awareness were being spread about child abuse prevention throughout the day.
Continue spreading awareness by using the hashtag for the rest of the month and as a community lets raise awareness and stop child abuse in our communities.
