4th Annual Meghan Crook Memorial Scholarship Hike Fundraiser

Join us on the weekend of Oct 11–14 to hike in memory of Meghan Crook. Meghan was a former Little Sister who then became a Big Sister for 11 years and she was a proud Detective Constable with York Regional Police. Becoming a police officer was Meghan’s dream and Meghan was fortunate enough to have received a scholarship through BBBS with CIBC that allowed her to complete her Police Foundations diploma. In honor of Meghan we hold an annual hike which helps to raise funds to provide scholarships to youth within Big Brothers Big Sisters of Peel York to assist with their post-secondary education. Each year (2) youth are awarded a $5,000 scholarship thanks to the support of people like you. Over the past 3 years over $80,000 has been raised and we have already provided 6 very deserving youth with a $5,000 scholarship.

To participate or donate click on the registration button below. Gather friends, family and co-workers and hike at whatever time is convenient for you on the weekend of Oct 11–14 or anytime during October. Donations of any amount are welcomed and if you donate $50 or more you will be sent a 4th Annual Meghan Crook Memorial Scholarship Hike commemorative t-shirt.

About Meghan . . .

Meghan was a shining light in the lives of so many and a valued part of our Big Brothers Big Sisters family. Meghan was a Little Sister and then became a Big Sister for 11 years and was always a strong advocate of mentoring. Through hard work and perseverance, Meghan achieved her dream of becoming a York Regional Police officer and quickly worked her way up to Detective Constable. Tragically, Meghan passed away on February 2, 2021 at the age of 31 as the result of snowmobile accident. Meghan believed in opportunities and that everyone should have a chance to achieve their goals. In 2021 the Meghan Crook Memorial Scholarship fund was created in honour of Meghan and to keep her memory alive. Each year 2 youth from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Peel York will be awarded a $5,000 scholarship to assist them in their post-secondary journey.

All funds raised from the Annual Meghan Crook Memorial Hike goes directly towards providing scholarships to give youth the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Anyone can change their life, and everyone can make a difference!
